WHY ARE KIDS MEAN TO EACH OTHER???

My daughter had her heart broke today by her best friend. Her friend lives right next door to us and they play together almost everyday. Today, is the friends birthday and she is having a big birthday party. My daughter was for sure that she was going to be invited to the party.
However, my daughter realized that was not going to happen when she called her friend this morning to wish her a HAPPY BIRTHDAY. The only thing her friend could talk about was how much fun she was planning to have with all her friends at the party. My daughter was very gracious and told her she hoped she had a great birthday. I could tell my daughter was upset when she hung the phone up. I asked her if everything was okay, and she just began to cry. Well, to say the least I was a little upset when I heard the whole story. I wanted to call the mom and ask her what was going on. Instead, my daughter looked at me and said,
"I forgive her"!!!, "She is my friend and I love her." Wow, it brought tears to my eyes. She reminded me what true love is!!!
Love is not rude, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no records of wrongs.

Whenever kids teased me in school, when I'd have a seizure. I would ask myself the same thing. "Why are they soo mean" Then I'd think...."Maybe their just afraid of what they don't understand". Just like your daughter I would forgive them. It always made me stronger. :) I know that to some that's a depressing story but honestly you should know that as a mother, you are doing the right thing letting her learn how to handle situations like that on her own. You should be proud that she forgives others. That is a true sign of being strong within to me anyhoo. :) I send Hugs though, I know your daughter must be upset not knowing why. I suppose there are alot of things in life that we don't know...but hopfully one day we will. :) Anyhoo, I'm going on and on and on. *HUGS*

What doesn't kill us, makes us stronger. :)

Wow! What a loving heart and courage your daughter has. This breaks my heart just to hear the story. I can only imagine my own daughter in the same situation and how we, as mothers, feel the same pain they feel. I hope these two friends are able to make it past this little hurdle.

I remember being called names in school. It hurt so much. My son is overweight and the kids tease him.
So when I read your post, my heart hurt for your little girl. You know you are doing something right when she can be so gracious and caring even after being hurt. What a testimony and a blessing!

Your daughter is sweet and has a good heart. It's sad and unfair when others toy with that heart and it gets hurt. True, these slights will make her stronger ... But it still pains me that people behave callously and cavalierly with the feelings of others ...
Give her a hug from me.

How awesome that your daughter could find it in herself to react like that. Kids shutting each other out was honestly one of the worst things for me to deal with when my son and niece were younger. My heart would break for them.
