Three years ago today changed our lives forever. The Lord took you home to be with Him. I miss you so much. I dreamt of you the other day and it was great to see your face! I heard your laughter and precious memories of you came rushing through my mind. As I awoke, I noticed my heart was pounding and I lost my breath when I remembered it was all just a dream, and that you really aren’t here anymore. Then I heard a small voice from within and God reminded me that death will not have the last say, because of His saving grace, you will see your brother again some day! Robbie, I’m looking up to heaven to you today.

My heart was crushed with grief. My brother was tragically killed in a train accident. My mind spun uncontrollably. I could not focus on a logical thought. Nightmares kept me from sleeping. During the day, I could barely stay awake. I was so crushed with grief. I wanted to shut out the world. I wanted to die. BUT I knew it was against all I knew the Lord had taught me. I cried out to Him for relief. He met me where I was. He comforted me as I gave each hurt of my soul to Him. . I praise Him for lifting my spirit of heaviness. I Praise Him for using my heartaches and grief to teach me wisdom, empathy, and compassion. He has given me strength.

Lord,

How could I ever possibly be prepared for something like this? It all seems so final. No more chances to share our feelings and retrieve the time, to do and say the things undone. My heartaches. Yet at the same time, I feel Your comforting presence near.

How I praise You for comfort and strength in my time of grief. Little by little, layer by layer , You are healing my heart and soul. I praise You for surrounding me with Your warm, constant presence that helps fill the void within me. Thank you Lord, for reminding me in Your Word about life everlasting, because I know my dear one, loved You, all isn't final. There is life beyond death where no sadness or pain exists, a life that lasts forever. Someday You will wipe away all my tears.

Even though I have tears and heartache now, I thank You for Your promise that JOY WILL COME IN THE MORNING.

I realize, You are showing me it isn't my loved one I'm weeping for. It's me. Thank you God for Your comfort. I look forward to joining You in heaven someday and being with my brother once again. In the meantime, I know I have more to do for You here, Lord, so I will keep going on. I will serve you and praise You with all my heart.

As a family we are blessed beyond my own understanding. At times our kids have NO idea how blessed they really are so this week hubby and I gave them things to ponder if they don't know what to be thankful for.

If they have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep ... they are richer than 75% of this world.

If they have and spare change in a dish someplace ... they are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

If they woke up this morning with more health than illness ... they are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week.

If they have never experienced the pangs of starvation... they are ahead of 500 million people in the world.

If you they can attend a church without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death ... they are more blessed than three billion people in the world.

Their parents are still alive and still married ... they are very rare, even in the United States.

If they can hold someones hand, hug them or even touch them on the shoulder ... they are blessed because they can offer a healing touch.

This is the first of many projects I have on my spring project list.

Ripping out the sidewalk that goes nowhere.

It's our guess that the previous owners lovely laid this sidewalk before the ditch was put in and the road was paved. We are also guessing that the sidewalk had a purpose at one time. Why else would someone put in a sidewalk that goes nowhere.

I am personally not a fan of Dancing With the Stars. Sorry, don't hate me. However, my mother is a HUGE fan so I had heard about Mark Ballas and Derek Hough. What I didn't know about these two professional ballroom dancers is that they have been playing and making music together for more than a decade. While dancing their way to stardom, they both dreamed of a career in music. Along with drummer Harry Sullivan, pianist Emily Grace, and bassist Sam Marder, they formed the Ballas Hough Band. On March 10th the Ballas Hough Band released their debut CD, BHB. The majority of songs on BHB are originals, based on personal life experiences. The first single, “Do It For You,” was co-written by new American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi. The album also features collaborations with songwriters Dan Wilson, Kevin Kadish and Marty James.

I was not for sure what to expect, so when I popped in the CD one could say I was pleasantly surprised. The songs had me boppin in my chair most of the day. It's a CD you can listen to over n' over and not get tired of it. You know what I mean?

Overwhelming FEAR

Is there something that fills you with a sense of overwhelming fear?

Something that makes your inside want to jump out of your body.

Anyone who knows me personally (in real life) knows I have this deep fear of frogs and mice. (more of frogs than mice)
just posting this picture gives me the creeps inside. I might need to delete it later.

Silly to some...very real to me. I wish I could explain it. I have never been able to overcome it. I live with it---kind of, I run and scream like a little school girl when I see one.

Any suggestions?

What in the world is going on? by Dr. David Jeremiah

This book does a good job of explaining Daniel's prophecies, along with salient passages from Revelation, Jeremiah and Zechariah, while quoting such diverse modern sources as Nicolaus Sarkozy, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Dutch Bishop Muskens of Breda for their perspectives on current events. I have read several of David's books and I would say this is my favorite.

The book's subtitle is, "10 Prophetic Clues You Cannot Afford to Ignore." Jeremiah devotes a chapter to each of his "clues" as follows:
1. The Israel Connect
2. The Crude Awakening
3. Modern Europe... Ancient Rome
4. Islamic Terrorism
5. Vanished Without a Trace

Have some fun today!Sometimes I get so caught up in the day-to-day minutiae of my life, I forget to come up for air, to take a deep breath, and to appreciate the sunrise and sunset.

Yesterday, I set out to have fun! Sing, dance, paint, and laugh. I was refreshed and renewed and ultimately I was more productive.

Do something fun today! read a funny kid's book just to yourself, laugh until you cry, slide down a slide, play in the snow, jump around and be silly.

Whatever you choose to do, remember to have fun today ---to smile, to laugh, to touch someone else's life in a positive way.

Today's Creative Blog had featured me. Tears began swelling up in my eyes and rolling down my cheeks. Not just to be featured, don't get me wrong I believe it is an honor to be featured with so many creative women. But, it was God's perfect timing.

For me, being featured means more than just getting my name on her blog roll . It showed me that even the simplest acts of kindness shown in this crazy blog land can mean something. That God uses people hundreds of miles away who have never met me to ministry to me.

After much consideration, I have come to the conclusion that I really need to sell some of my vintage luggage collection (obsession).

Many of you want to know where I store over 200 pieces of luggage. Trust me, NOT at my house. I would be in divorce court if I did. (just kidding) I'm just not brave enough to share the messy details. In time I will.

Settling into my soul

The other day I was read parts of, Five essential steps to reaching your goals by Charles Stanley.

The section that has been settling into my soul is , "What's holding you back?"

Anytime we stop too long to take note of our challenging circumstances, we run the risk of being distracted. God does not want us to be overwhelmed by what we see or experience. He wants us to be informed and wise in making decisions. He knows that otherwise, we could easily miss His best. Disappointments, stiff challenges, and unexpected loss come to everyone, but they do not have to cloud our minds or prevent us from seeing the good that He is doing.

The morning I read this, the Lord knew I needed it. My soul needed it.

I struggle with wanting to be in control. If I am in control , than I can not get overwhelmed. Right??? Wrong!

I need step aside and let Him do His work in me.

So what is holding me back? Myself...learning to let go daily and let God!

We spent less money on THINGS but spent more time with each other and loved ones. Which made it one the best holiday seasons ever.

This next week I will be remembering back over 2008 and looking forward to 2009.

If I decorate my house perfectly with plaid bows, strands of twinkling lights and shiny balls, but do not show love to my family, I'm just another decorator.

If I slave away in the kitchen baking dozens of Christmas cookies, preparing gourmet meals and arranging a beautifully adorned table at mealtime, but do not show love to my family, I'm just another cook.

If I work at the soup kitchens, carol in the nursing homes, and give all that I have to charity, but do not show love to my family, it profits me nothing.

If I trim the tree with shimmering angels and crocheted snowflakes, attend a myriad of holiday parties, and sing in the choir's cantata but do not focus on Christ, I have missed the point.

Love stops the cooking to hug the child. Love sets aside the decorating to kiss the husband. Love is kind, though harried and tired. Love doesn't envy another's home that has coordinated Christmas china and table linens. Love doesn't yell at the kids to get out of the way, but is thankful they are there to be in the way. Love doesn't give only to those who are able to give in return, but rejoices in giving to those who can't. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. Video games will break, pearl necklaces will be lost, golf clubs will rust, but giving the gift of love will endure.
